Teaser Production Roadmap

Phase 1 – Concept Development

1. Initial Idea

  • Define the core concept: target audience, genre, themes, unique selling point.
  • Draft a series premise logline (1–2 sentences).
  • Identify tone, humour, and visual style inspirations.

  • Write character bios: personalities, backstories, motivations, relationships.
  • Define episode format (11-min, 22-min, serialized vs episodic).

Phase 2 – Character Creation & Design

3. Character Creation (Narrative)

  • Expand character arcs: protagonist journey, supporting cast, villains.
  • Explore conflicts & themes tied to the characters.

4. Character Design (Visual)

  • Concept sketches for main cast.
  • Multiple iterations for style exploration.
  • Finalize turnarounds (front, side, back views).
  • Develop expressions and pose sheets.
  • Early colour studies to establish palette.

Phase 3 – Teaser Development

5. Teaser Script

  • Write a 1–2 minute teaser script showcasing tone, characters, and world.
  • Focus on introducing the heroes + hook moment (the “why watch?”).
  • Script includes dialogue, action, sound cues.

6. Teaser Storyboard

  • Translate script into sequential panels.
  • Define camera angles, character actions, timing beats.
  • Rough visuals (black & white sketches, minimal detail).

7. Teaser Animatic

  • Import storyboard frames into editing software.
  • Sync with scratch voice recordings, temp sound FX, placeholder music.
  • Establish pacing, comedic timing, and emotional beats.
  • Refine to a polished animatic for pitch/trailer purposes.

Phase 4 – Pre-Production Readiness

(After teaser approval)

  • Develop series bible (world, characters, episode synopses).
  • Prepare pilot script and outline of Season 1.
  • Start production planning (budget, studio pipeline, software, team).
